Vegetable fat from pharmaceuticals production as a raw material for the chemical industry

EUROMED, SA is a producer of standardized extracts of herbs and natural active ingredients for the pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics industries. Some of the products manufactured by EUROMED, SA are the extracts of valerian, ginkgo, ginseng and grape seed among others.

The production process from which the by-product is obtained, consists in the extraction of the active principles of the vegetable plants with solvent. Once the extraction is done, the solvent is removed, which is later decanted to remove most of the water and to obtain the vegetable fat residue that is managed as a by-product in the Catalan regulatory framework.

Companies that incorporate this by-product as a raw material use it as a substitute for natural oils (rapeseed oil and sun-turmeric oil) for the manufacture of chemical auxiliary products.
