The Byproduct and raw materials exchange of Catalonia, free online service offered by the Council of Catalan Chambers of Commerce, has been renovated. The aim is to improve services and to adapt to the evolution of waste management to keep its original purpose:

• To promote waste reuse and recycling.
• To foster contact between companies willing to buy and sell secondary raw materials.
• To reduce waste disposal and treatment.
• Reduce the environmental costs of the companies.

The Byproduct Exchange of Catalonia sees waste as a resource and as a source of secondary raw materials, key elements in the transition towards a circular economy. Base on the vision of waste as a resource, in 2015, the new tool residuorecurso.com was born.

The range of materials offered/requested in the marketplace has been expanded so all kind of resources can be listed, whether if it is the main purpose of the productive process or not. Hence, ads include different typology, from waste to remaining stocks, raw material needs, machinery, packaging, furniture and other objects as well as the end-of-waste and byproduct figures.

In order to list an ad we can fill all the fields needed for a full description of the substance, object or material, as well as pictures. This way, users can easily and quickly understand and find ads according to their interests.

Further improvements of the platform include a tool that allows users to filter ads by distance, an internal messaging service, favorite ads and alarms or closing agreements to keep track of deals.
